Oscar Announces New President of Oscar Medical Group, Releases Early Data on Virtual Primary Care

NEW YORK, April 14, 2021 – Oscar Health, Inc. (“Oscar”) (NYSE: OSCR), the first health insurance company built on a full stack technology platform, today announced that Dr. Okiki Louis will become President of Oscar Medical Group (OMG), effective April 26, 2021. OMG is a collection of physician-owned practices and offers high-quality, compassionate and patient-centered care. OMG physicians and nurse practitioners provide virtual urgent care and virtual primary care services to members.“Dr. Louis has deep experience managing a large, regionally distributed practice, having spent many years at Concentra,” said Meghan Joyce, Chief Operating Officer at Oscar. “We’re thrilled to have her join the team and lead OMG into its next phase of growth.”Dr. Louis is joining OMG from Concentra, where she is currently Vice President of Medical Operations for the Mountain Region and oversees medical operations in Nevada, Oregon, Arizona, Washington, Alaska, Colorado and Utah. Prior to Concentra, Dr. Louis served as an Urgent Care Physician at WellStar Health, and earlier in her career, she spent eight years as an emergency medicine physician. Dr. Louis is board certified in emergency medicine and completed her residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Louis received her Bachelor’s degree in cellular and molecular biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and her M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.As a part of Dr. Louis’ responsibilities, she will oversee virtual urgent care and the primary care practice supporting Oscar’s Virtual Primary Care offering. Since its launch this year, Oscar’s Virtual Primary Care program has increased access and improved affordability for members. Early results show that the program has made strides to improve access and close care gaps:
- Oscar Medical Group is one of the top 3 largest primary provider groups by volume of Oscar patients seen in states where they are practicing.
- The majority of members who have adopted virtual primary care are 36+.
- Members with chronic conditions have had higher adoption rates than healthy members.
- We offer care in both English and Spanish, and have up to 38% Spanish-speaking empaneled patients in our virtual primary care teams across the country.
- Adherence to recommended care has been very high -- 80% of prescribed medications have been filled.
- Our virtual primary care providers have received a 99% member satisfaction score.
- 85% of patients say they intend to use Virtual Primary Care as their only primary care provider and/or when health issues arise.
